Parks for Los Osos leads and supports community campaigns that create, improve, and protect parks, trails, and pedestrian connections in Los Osos/Baywood. This page gives a snapshot of our current priorities and how you can plug in.
Support Sunnyside Park

Transforming the former Sunnyside School property into a community park, Sunnyside Park, is our first and most important effort. Sunnyside Park represents a rare opportunity to add meaningful park space in the heart of Los Osos and create a welcoming place for people of all ages and abilities.
Based on a community-led process, Sunnyside Park can provide:
- Safe, accessible recreation areas for children, teens, adults, and seniors.
- Walking paths, gathering spaces, and opportunities to connect with neighbors.
- Enhanced green space for community use now and the future.
Essential to achievement of this Sunnyside Park vision is voter approval of Measure B-26. Parks for Los Osos supports Measure B-26 and will provide some financial support for it. This will include supporting voter information about the need for a larger community park and how Sunnyside would be an important addition. A public opinion survey done last year indicates there is strong community support for Measure B-26. That’s why another important aspect being supported is Get Out the Vote.
To make Sunnyside Park a reality, we need your support, visit Sunnyside Park Citizens Coalition.
Parks for Los Osos supports the Sunnyside Park initiative through the general fund.
Parks for Los Osos General Fund
While individual projects like Sunnyside Park are critical, our community needs a long‑term, flexible way to support parks and trails as opportunities arise. The Parks for Los Osos General Fund (Parks 4 Los Osos / P4LO) powers this broader mission.
The General Fund helps us:
- Respond quickly to new park and trail opportunities.
- Support planning, outreach, and advocacy for safe walking and pedestrian paths.
- Invest in small but meaningful improvements that make existing spaces more welcoming and inclusive.
Gifts to the General Fund give us the flexibility to support multiple projects over time and to stay ready when the community needs us.
Future and Emerging Projects
As Parks for Los Osos grows, we anticipate supporting additional efforts such as:
-
New or improved neighborhood parks and small community gathering spaces.
-
Safer walking routes to schools, transit, and key destinations.
-
Trail connections that link neighborhoods, commercial areas, and natural open spaces.

Donating to the General Fund or directly to campaigns.
