We’re excited to introduce Parks for Los Osos: a new local nonprofit created to support the parks, trails, and walking and pedestrian paths that make Los Osos/Baywood such a special place to live.
For years, our community has talked about needing more accessible parks, safer walking routes, and welcoming outdoor spaces where people of all ages and abilities can gather. Parks for Los Osos (also known as Parks 4 Los Osos or P4LO) was formed to help meet that need by raising funds, organizing community support, and partnering with local agencies to move projects forward.
Our first priority: Sunnyside Park
One of the key reasons we fast‑tracked this organization is the opportunity at the former Sunnyside School property. The potential to transform this site into Sunnyside Park—a true community park in the heart of Los Osos/Baywood—is exactly the kind of project our community has been waiting for.
Parks for Los Osos is preparing to:
-
Support the requirements needed to move Sunnyside Park ahead
-
Build broad community awareness and engagement
-
Raise funds dedicated to planning, design, and future amenities
You’ll see more information soon about how to support Sunnyside Park specifically, including ways to donate, volunteer, and stay informed.
Our broader mission
While Sunnyside Park is an important near‑term focus, our work goes beyond a single project. Our mission is to build a healthier, more connected Los Osos/Baywood by developing, enhancing, supporting, and preserving inclusive park facilities and recreation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities for future generations.
That means we’ll also be:
-
Supporting the creation and improvement of parks and small community spaces
-
Advocating for safe, connected walking and pedestrian paths
-
Listening to residents about what they need and value in their outdoor spaces
How you can get involved right now
As we get started, there are a few simple ways you can plug in:
-
Join our email list so we can keep you updated on Sunnyside Park and other efforts
-
Volunteer your time or skills—whether that’s outreach, events, or behind‑the‑scenes help
-
Make a donation to our general fund or to future campaigns as they launch
If you care about seeing more places to walk, play, and connect in Los Osos/Baywood, we’d love to have you with us from the beginning.
This is just the start. In the months ahead, we’ll share updates on Sunnyside Park, introduce our priorities for parks and paths across the community, and highlight opportunities for you to get involved.
Thank you for being part of building a stronger future for our parks—and for Los Osos/Baywood.
